Promising Start for Seychelles U17 Girls as CJSOI Games Kick Off

The opening day of football at the CJSOI Games 2025 saw contrasting outcomes for Seychelles’ U17 national teams, with the girls’ side securing a well-earned victory, while the boys’ team fought hard in a narrow defeat.

At Stad Linite, the Seychelles U17 Girls got their campaign off to a dream start with a 1–0 win over Mauritius. The decisive goal came in the 16th minute from Keisha Moustache, giving Seychelles the early lead. The home side showed great composure, tactical discipline, and teamwork to hold their advantage until the final whistle. Goalkeeper Dinara Julie made several important saves, while strong performances from the rest of the team helped keep the momentum in Seychelles’ favour.

The victory marks a strong statement of intent from the young team and gives them a boost of confidence heading into their next challenge against Mayotte on 6 August.

Later in the afternoon, the U17 Boys faced a determined Madagascar side at Stad Linite. After conceding twice in the first half, Seychelles responded with goal from Tony Cross Danny Radegonde in the second half (64’), but it was not enough to overturn the result, as the match ended 2–1 in favour of Madagascar. The team showed character in the second half, creating multiple attacking opportunities.

The boys now shift focus to their next match on 5 August against Mayotte, ready to bounce back and fight for a result.

Both teams remain focused and motivated to represent the nation with pride and purpose on home soil.
