The inaugural season of the Seychelles Women’s League (2024/2025) has officially come to a close, culminating in a spirited prize presentation ceremony held on 30th May at the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Auditorium. The league, which kicked off on 7 September 2024 and concluded on 3 May 2025, marked a significant milestone in the development of women’s football in the country — overcoming numerous challenges to successfully complete its first full season.

Despite initial concerns around logistics, limited resources, and fluctuating participation, the league persevered through commitment from clubs, players, and federation officials. With matches staged across multiple districts, the season unfolded as a celebration of resilience and growing talent in the local women’s football scene.

Champions Crowned: Mont Fleuri Rovers Take the Title

After months of competition and grit on the field, it was Mont Fleuri Rovers who emerged as champions, showcasing consistent dominance and tactical maturity throughout the campaign. Marine Victoria City FC, a formidable force throughout the season, claimed the runner-up position, while the spirited young side Young Kestrels B secured third place, an impressive feat in their debut year.

Individual Excellence Recognised

The league also served as a stage for individual brilliance. Emma Esparon of Marine Victoria City FC claimed the Top Scorer award (15 goals), demonstrating lethal finishing and relentless attacking presence.

Veena Patricia of Starlets FC was deservedly named Best Player of the season, lauded for her leadership, versatility, and technical prowess. She was closely followed by Nerlice Fred (Mont Fleuri Rovers) and Kimberly Chang Tak Hue (Marine Victoria City FC), who were recognised as the second and third best players, respectively.

Between the posts, Chelsea Muthoni of Starlets FC earned accolades as the Best Goalkeeper, consistently delivering crucial saves and marshalling her defence with authority.

Rising Stars and Coaching Excellence

Youth development was another highlight of the league. Keisha Moustache from Young Kestrels B stood out as the Best Young Player, impressing with her energy, creativity, and fearless approach. Her teammate, Dinara Julie, was honoured as the Best Young Goalkeeper, underlining the promising pipeline of talent in the squad.

The tactical genius behind the champions, Florence Marie, was rightfully awarded Best Coach, guiding Mont Fleuri Rovers to glory with discipline, team cohesion, and strategic planning.

A Moment to Celebrate, A Movement to Build

The prize presentation brought players, coaches, and officials together to reflect on a ground-breaking season. SFF Vice-President and invited guests commended the determination of the women’s teams and the efforts that made this season possible.

“The 2024/25 season wasn’t just about competition; it was about proving that women’s football in Seychelles belongs on the national stage,” said Chris Yip-Au, Head of Women’s Football. “We faced logistical challenges, but the commitment of everyone involved made this dream a reality.”

With a strong foundation now laid, attention turns to the future — expanding the league, improving facilities, and further investing in youth development and coaching education.

As the curtain falls on this historic first season, one thing is clear: Seychelles women’s football has taken its first major stride, and there’s no turning back.
